The Carpenters covering “Please Mister Postman”

Tough to call anything done by The Carpenters a “hidden gem”, but I think it’s warranted here.  The song is not a Beatles cover since the The Marvelettes performed it first, though it’s safe to say nobody’s covered this song quite like this.  While the Fab Four’s rendition made no impact on the charts, The Carpenters’ version rocketed to #1 in the US and #2 in the UK.

Other great covers of the song include Lil’ Wayne sampling the Marvelettes version for “Mr. Postman” in his album “Tha Fix” as well as Juelz Santana using The Carpenters’ version for his song “Oh Yes.”
