TODAY IN BEATLEDOM

August 14, 1962 Brian Epstein approaches Ringo Starr to replace Pete Best as the Beatles’ drummer.  Starr had been “sitting in” for Best on several occasions before then while still a member of Rory Storm & The Hurricanes.  The Beatles officially removed Best as their drummer two days later on August 16.
