TODAY IN BEATLEDOM

July 16, 1969 “The Ballad of John & Yoko” receives gold certification in the US.  The single was released in May of ‘69 and eventually appeared on the Past Masters, Volume Two CD.  The song was banned by several stations in the US for Lennon’s use of the words “Christ” and “crucify”.

Check out a hilarious cover of the song here, which includes some of the worst hillbilly/summer festival dancers you’ll ever see.
