July 15, 1964 “A Hard Day’s Night” single reaches #1 in its first week in the UK New Musical Express chart.  The US version of the single contained “I Should Have Known Better” on the b-side and sold over 1.5 million copies.  The song has always been instantly recognizable with its distinct opening chord.
