TODAY IN BEATLEDOM

August 27, 1967 — Brian Epstein, the “Beatle-Making Prince of Pop”, dies at age 32 of an accidental drug overdose.

In addition to managing the Fab Four, Epstein also managed Gerry & The Pacemakers, Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas, Cilla Black and The Remo Four.  He ran NEMS Enterprises and was immensely successful, however Epstein has yet to be inducted into the “Non-Performers Section” of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (sidenote: here’s a petition for getting him in).

Paul McCartney later said, “If anybody was the Fifth Beatle, it was Brian.”
